Teeth whitening

At Royal Dental Spa we offer professional teeth whitening. A smile is usually the first thing that people notice about a person and more and more people are looking for a whiter smile. Over time our teeth can accumulate stains from everyday activities such as drinking tea, coffee, colas, red wine and smoking. Teeth whitening works by a bleaching gel infiltrating into the tooth structure and lightening the discoloured areas. There are two common types of teeth whitening procedures: in office whitening or at home whitening.

In office teeth whitening:

This involves one of our gentle dentists using a high concentration gel applied to the teeth. In some cases a special LASER light is used to activate the gel. It is important that the gums are healthy and teeth are clean before doing this procedure, our dentist may recommend a professional clean if it’s needed. Our dentists will protect the gums of the client during the procedure as well. In office teeth whitening takes up to an hour and a half and results are immediate, generally lasting for one year or longer depending on the situation.

At home teeth whitening:

In this method, our dentist starts off by making a custom-made mold for your teeth by taking an impression. This mold will fit snug to the teeth and can be filled with a professional whitening gel. Our dentist will provide you with the gel and will show you how to fill your custom tray. The tray with whitening gel will be worn nightly generally for 2-4 weeks. The snug fit prevents overflow of the whitening material to the gums. Whitening of teeth using this method is more gradual than in office whitening however its main advantage is that it causes less teeth sensitivity.

Veneers

Veneers are a thin, yet strong layer of material, most of the time porcelain, that are stuck onto the front of your teeth. Veneers can be used for cosmetic enhancement of a smile or to hide tooth discolouration.

Veneers have a natural appearance and can improve the appearance of crooked, chipped or discoloured teeth and a gappy smile.

Our professional dentists will work with you to customize the size, shape and colour of your veneers to determine what will suit your face and smile the most.

Injections for correcting gummy smile

A gummy smile occurs when there is too much gum displayed when smiling. This can be due to a number of reasons including:

  • A short upper lip
  • Small teeth
  • Too much gum

One of the ways that a gummy smile can be treated without surgery is by cosmetic injections. Overactive muscles around the upper lip can cause excessive gum display when smiling, injections can be given which relax these muscles and reduce the gummy display. If

you have a gummy smile and it bothers you, don’t let it make you feel self-conscious! A simple injection could be the solution. See one of our qualified dentists for a thorough smile analysis and advice on the best treatment option for your individual situation.

Botox injections for tooth grinding

At Royal Dental Spa, one of the ways we treat teeth grinding is by using botox injections. Excessive clenching or grinding of the teeth that is not part of normal chewing movements often occurs unconsciously during sleep. It can lead to excessive wear on the teeth and may cause permanent damage to the teeth and jaw joints.

It can commonly be associated with jaw tension and pain. The botox injections may help with some cases of bruxism as they can relieve the jaw tension when injected into facial muscles that may be sore or tender. Injections are given by a trained and qualified dentist, so you can be sure you are in safe hands.
