How does the Child Dental Benefits Schedule work?
CDBS is an Australian government initiative that provides children access to basic dental services for up to $1,095 every two calendar years.

Make an appointment
Schedule an appointment at Royal Dental Spa and let our staff know that you will use the Child Dental Benefits Schedule fund to cover the cost of your child’s dental care.
Contact Medicare or check your Medicare online account to verify your child’s available benefit amount.

Attend your appointment
When you arrive for your appointment, the dentist will give your child an initial examination to determine the treatment that they need. They will also provide you with the treatment cost.
Then, our staff will provide you with a consent form to read over and sign.

Enjoy the dental treatment
Once you’ve completed the consent form provided by our staff, your child can now fully enjoy dental treatment from our dental team under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
After the treatment is completed, you will be presented with the bill.

Claim on the spot with HICAPS
To claim your child’s CDBS benefit, all you need to do is present your Medicare card. Our staff will swipe it or tap it on the HICAPS terminal.
You can receive the benefit on the spot, stress-free.

Eligibility Requirements for CDBS
CDBS provides benefits to eligible children aged 0-17 years old. To be eligible, the child must qualify for Medicare, and their parent or guardian must receive at least one eligible payment during that same financial year.
There is no need to register if your child is deemed eligible. You will automatically receive a letter detailing the process. Your child can then enjoy the benefit amount of up to $1,026 over two calendar years for basic dental services at Royal Dental Spa. These include regular check-ups, routine cleanings, fillings, root canals, and extractions.
